Lawson Roberts Sunday Thoughts on Saturday Night Live and Pharrell Williams

I have been loving Saturday Night Live lately. The writing seems to be spot on and the cast is stronger than ever. Did you catch SNL last night? I was stoked to see Pharrell Williams live. What a great producer and singer.

So when he came on to do his signature song "Happy",  (click link to see performance!!!!) did anyone else feel like he was lip syncing? It was so spot on OBVIOUS to me.

Now would would Lorne Michaels and NBC allow that? Maybe he was in bad voice? Maybe he lost his voice?

I don't care what the reason. If you had to lip it, then don't make it so damn obvious right? The new arrangement for the song rocked. He just didn't.  For me and all of us on the Lawson Roberts team, it was a let down.

Thoughts?

ABC and a NOT SO GOOD MORNING AMERICA! HATERS GONNA HATE-LAWSON DIGS IN FOR DIRT

Ok it's true. I am a huge fan of ABC and their news division. I love Diane Sawyer,

I adore Good Morning America and I have to admit because they are real to me. They come across as genuine people and  someone you would enjoy having in the living room for a coffee or glass of wine.

When I heard from my sources that the morning show off camera are vicious and hating people, I totally blew it off. That's impossible. They're just lovely I thought. Then I recall the media business and it's their jobs to put on that smile and sell the sizzle. So I got to digging.

First I heard that Josh Elliott was leaving the show and going to NBC to do sports again. He took a million dollar pay cut to exit. After not much digging, it turns out he's a damn jerk.

My source told me:" Josh yells at staffers including his own writers saying things like 'Who the F%^k wrote this?' He does this with a microphone on so everyone can hear in the studio! Clearly not Mr. Popularity.

The real reason it would seem that he is leaving is that he is jealous of Robin Roberts' salary.  According to my sources, he could't deal with the fact that Robin was making 14 million dollars! He felt slighted by her huge pay raise. He's such an abrasive guy anyways. People literally hate him because he is so rude to everyone.

It gets worse: Amy Robach and Lara Spencer can not even act like they enjoy each other's company on camera and it creates tension on the air.
Lara Spencer doing her thing on the morning show.
Amy Robach on assignment.

The WORST: Robin Roberts is a diva! You know I can deal with anything. However, I really like her and to hear that she pulls diva acts is just saddening to me.

So no matter how the cookie crumbles, it's a mess on and off camera at GMA. Number one still in the ratings. Wonder how long that will last?

Cue the Superman Theme. Lawson Roberts Double Duty

It's been one of those mornings.  I knew today was going to be one of those great busy days. I started with working on an event on King Street, in downtown Charleston. One of those dirty load ins where you just know you're going to get dirty. I was prepared.  Shorts, Lacoste golf shirt (my work clothes).

I ran across this great guy loading in and he's coming aboard the team to assist with installs and strikes. Sometimes, I have found that life is very good to me this way. The best people come into my life at the most perfect time.

Knocked out the load in and now changing the proverbial shower and into  sales clothes. Going to be a completely fabulous day indeed.

I am thrilled you are following me. Sign up for my BLOG as I keep you in the loop of all things entertaining style daily.

I would also love to have you follow me here as well.

More to come later today.

Until then,

Lawson Roberts' Strawberry Bruschetta

If you're like me, you just love Spring. So of course after work I got my hands on some amazing strawberries and wanted to do something with them for an appetizer for dinner tonight. I came across the thought of creating  Strawberry Bruschetta. I had seen something similar in Southern Living Magazine. Off to the Lawson Roberts test kitchen I go. Here is what I came up with. So Yum and so easy!!

  •  Preheat oven to 400°. 1 1/2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
  • nectarine, diced
  • 1 cup quartered grape tomatoes
  • 3 tablespoons thinly sliced fresh basil
  • shallot, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • (12-oz.) French bread baguette
  • (10.5-oz.) goat cheese log, softened
  1. Stir together strawberries, nectarine, grape tomatoes, basil, minced shallot, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sugar, freshly ground pepper, and salt.
  2. 2. Split baguette in half; cut each half crosswise into 4 equal pieces.
  3. Spread cut sides of bread with goat cheese.
  4.  Place bread pieces on a baking sheet, and bake 13 to 15 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
  5. Remove the bread oven, and top with strawberry mixture.
  6. Cut into 2-inch slices.
